Overview

Welcome to the Career Services Office of St. John's University School of Law. Career Services assists students and alumni/ae with career planning and development through a wide array of helpful services. Such services include individualized counseling, resume and cover letter critiquing, and informative programs. Career Services offers abundant opportunities to learn about career options and effective job-searching techniques, to meet attorneys in many areas of practice, and to receive advice and support from a team of caring, energetic, knowledgeable, and resourceful professionals.

Career Services continuously receives information from a multitude of employers offering part-time, full-time, and summer job openings, as well as internships and volunteer positions. Additionally, many employers visit the campus annually to recruit students for summer positions and for full-time employment upon graduation. Firms, corporations, and governmental entities located in New York State and elsewhere, participating in this on-campus recruitment program, either interview at the law school or receive student resumes forwarded by Career Services.

Career Services also continues to assist graduates in finding employment. A bi-monthly electronic newsletter and telephone hotline inform our alumni/ae of new job listings. Recent graduates may also take advantage of our resume referral service.

Career Services also sponsors several programs during the year, including Career Week, the Mock Interview Program, and the Judicial Clerkship Program. The Office has facilities for computerized research, a resource library, and on-site LEXIS/NEXIS and WESTLAW representatives.

Our professional staff, which includes several attorneys, encourages prospective and current students, as well as alumni/ae, to contact them about any of the Office's services or programs.

Office Hours & Contact Information

The Career Services Office is located on the third floor of the law school. The Office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (closed on Friday during the summer semester). Late appointments are available for evening students and alumni/ae.
